Templar’s Choice Vintage Brut 2016

Something to start any BBQ off in style.

This cider has undergone in-bottle malolactic fermentation, a similar process to wine ageing in the bottle. Freshly pressed apple juice is keeved* on its own yeasts for a slow fermentation throughout the winter months and then bottled at the right degree of specific gravity for its dry taste style. The fermentation is controlled by keeving, a little racking, together with the quality of fruit to achieve a well controlled secondary fermentation in the bottle to provide a natural effervescence after 6-8 weeks.

There is very little deposit, so the clear cider is neither filtered or pasteurised and will keep for many years in the bottle.

*Keeving is an artisan cider-making technique used to create a natural cider without sweetening or pasteurisation. Wild yeasts, cool cellars and low nutrient orchards are all key elements in the process. Only 100% fresh pressed cider apples are used, no sugar, no water, and nothing else.

This amazing collection of apples grown in the tough conditions at altitude of Welsh Mountain’s Prospect Orchard produce complex, rich flavours.  A young bottling, the naturally sparkling pétillant naturel (‘pet nat’) style complements the interest and fun inherent in this great blend.

Berryland Apple and Cabernet Franc Co-Ferment 2020

Delicious with chicken off the BBQ.

The skills of the winemaker are apparent in this interesting, vibrant-colour cider co-ferment that marries apple fruit with the Cabernet Franc grape. Made just once a year, like all Berryland products, from 100% juice without the use of any concentrates, this cider shows great balance and the lower alcohol that are hallmarks of the company’s products.

Once Upon A Tree Tidnor Wood Oak-Aged Still Cider 2018

Made for barbecued steak, lamb or pork.  

Made from a single vintage, this 100% fresh-pressed fruit, never-from-concentrate cider combines a field blend of bitter sweet apples grown at Tidnor Wood Orchard, part of the original National Collection of cider apples, with dessert apples from Once Upon A Tree’s Dragon Orchard.

Complex and aromatic, the style and presentation of this cider is designed to share with family, friends – and food!

Brännland Pernilla Perle 2017

Great with summer fruits (and ice cream).

The 2017 Pernilla Perle differs from earlier years in that it is drier and has a higher profile of apple clarity with more outspoken tannins. 2017 was one of the hardest years for decades for apple growing  in Sweden with heavy frost and hail in the spring. As a result, the 2017 harvest has given our cider a rather more austere, yet elegant and more complex style compared to previous vintages. The balance between sugar, alcohol and fruit has been joined by a length that holds great promise for future development and ageing.

Riestra Ice Cider (Sidra De Hielo)

Round off the perfect BBQ with this dessert beauty.

Another step in Riestra’s century old history was to make this succulent ice cider by freezing the juice of carefully selected Asturian apples using cryo-concentration. Riestra start with apple varieties which combine the right balance of tartness, bitterness and sweetness with the resulting must frozen and defrosted to concentrate the juice and all its flavour, then it’s  fermented for 9 months in oak barrels.

Made by the Normandy ‘méthode traditionelle’, this naturally sparkling 2016 vintage brut uses Domaine, Mettais, Bisquet & Raimbault cider apple varieties to produce a well-balanced all with genuine cider apple tannins to give it body, structure & depth.

Welsh Mountain Prospect Pet Nat 2020

This wild fermented pétillant naturel cider was bottled before the end of fermentation to leave the residual sugar to finish fermenting in the bottle, resulting in a light carbonation.

The blend of apples is lifted by the carbonic acid produced during fermentation, producing complex, rich flavours that are a true reflection of the cider’s ‘terroir’.

Berryland Apple and Cabernet Franc Co-Ferment 2020

Lightly sparkling with a colour of vibrant, effervescent purple red and a delightful nose that hints at fresh currants, the palate shows sweet fruit upfront, yet turns this round to finish dry.

Once Upon A Tree Tidnor Wood Oak-Aged Still Cider 2018

Aged on its own lees and new French oak for 9 months, this partial wild ferment & unfiltered cider is golden brown with a slight haze. Spice aromas on the nose of clove and vanilla combined with orange peel, honey and lychee. A rich mouth-filling still cider with soft creamy vanilla tannins, and buttery spiced toffee-apple fruit.  Bone dry, but ripe, soft and fruity leaving generous tannins to the finish.

Brännland Pernilla Perle 2017

Appearance: lightly sparkling, golden hue, crystal clarity. Nose: nectarine, pear, apple blossom, honey, vinous. Palate: pear, ripe apple, lychee, orange, almonds and white cherries. Light lingering structure, slightly grippy. Sweet attack with really juicy fruit flavours, nice acid profile on finish.

Riestra Ice Cider (Sidra De Hielo)

Powerful acidity and sweetness in perfect balance. Strongly copper coloured, intensely fruity and aromatic, with notes of roasted apple and yeasty apple compote, the sweet entry on the palate gives way to pleasant acidity.

As well as summer fruits (and ice cream), and a whole range of other desserts, its off-dry character makes it well suited for a wide variety of gastronomic pairings: as an aperitif on its own, or together with Asian food, right through to heavy continental-style pork dishes.

Rounds off any meal perfectly. Try with blue cheese, creamy or cake desserts – crème brûlée, cheese cake, bread pudding, almond cake, fruit and nut tarts – tarte tatin, pear tart, walnut torte, or anything with salted caramel sauce.
