Made from rare apple varieties grown in Killahora’s 200 year old orchards on the Atlantic south coast of Ireland. The apples are macerated before pressing to enhance the depth of flavour, then this pressed juice from these bittersweet apples is mixed with the finest young apple brandy, a dosage of aged fermented ice wine is added and then aged in Irish whiskey barrels for a year.
Nothing is rushed at Killahora Orchards: the fruit is hand-picked and this fortified cider is made in small batches, then allowed to ferment and mature which creates complexity and real nuances of flavour.
Killahora Orchards Pom’O is gluten free and vegetarian and vegan friendly.
2019 Great Taste Awards – 2 Gold Stars
Foxy gold in appearance, with a hint of brandy, elderflower and marzipan on the nose and a palate with notes of baked apple, creamy tobacco, winter fires, honey and warming spirit.
Serve lightly chilled as an aperitif poured over ice with a splash of tonic water with a twist of apple peel to garnish or, serve with a cheeseboard – favourite cheese pairings include creamy blue cheeses or a strong, nutty cheddar. Pom’O works excellently with any apple desserts or to round off a fine dinner.
