Cider Is Wine Alliance Membership Continues To Grow With New Member Tutts Clump Proper Cider

Cider Is Wine is delighted to announce the new member Tutts Clump Proper Cider to our group.

Cider Is Wine is a not-for-profit trade alliance launched at the end of 2018 whose objective is to create a new global drinks category for ciders and perries made from 100% juice – not from concentrate – beginning in the UK.

Just like other drinks categories and sectors, the cider market is being driven by growing consumer interest in premium quality, provenance (regionality and locality – or, to use a wine expression, ‘terroir’), craft, specialty, distinctiveness, individuality, innovation and choice, as well as the production methods and skills of the producers themselves.

Says Alistair Morrell, Cider is Wine’s CEO: “I’m pleased to announce Tutts Clump Proper Cider as our latest member with a range of products that very much reflect Cider Is Wine’s hallmark message of passion, pride and satisfaction and we look forward to working together with innovative distributors who want to forge a new category for cider.”
Alistair continues: “The stands we took at London Wine Fair and Imbibe Live saw nearly 500 trade visitors buying into the idea of a new quality cider category focusing on offering the choice to consumers of 100% apple and/or pear not-from concentrate ciders and perries. Cider Is Wine alliance members are seeing the benefit of cost-effective marketing and promotion giving them a louder voice in the valuable UK market”.

Says Tim Wale, founder of Tutts Clump Proper Cider: “We as a family have been making our award-winning cider the old-fashioned way using only 100% juice from predominantly local, seasonal fruit since 2006 – this is why we call it Proper Cider! Cider Is Wine perfectly reflects the no compromise quality ethos that we ensure throughout the production process and the care and attention taken to craft our blends to ensure a level of quality we can be proud of and more and more consumers are searching out.”

Cider Is Wine brings together the finest global cider and perry producers around the same essential production values used in winemaking, except made from 100%, freshly-pressed and fermented apples or pears. The initiative promotes these ciders and perries so that they can be understood, discussed and enjoyed by consumers in the same way as the very best wines which also happen usually to be lower in alcohol. It provides those consumers with a clear choice in a market where a drink can be called ‘cider’ when made from just 35% all-from-concentrate apple or pear content.

With a Waitrose survey recently highlighting artisan cider as one of the key trends for 2019, it’s the perfect time to join the initiative and help the world discover the benefits of your brand.
