William Smith planted his first apple trees in 1888 in the Huon Valley. A little while after, Willie’s great grandson, Andrew, created one of Australia’s first organic apple farms, to become Australia’s first certified organic cidery.
Today, as 4th generation apple growers, Willie Smith’s apples don’t leave the farm until they’re shipped to their customers, meaning their cidermakers have full control from orchard to bottle. Using table and purpose-grown cider apples, Willie Smith’s mix traditional French and English techniques with new world influences to create award-winning ciders that allow the apple to really sing.
The company’s range includes organic ciders and traditional ciders that run from ‘bone dry’ to medium, and from single varietal ciders to ciders made from as many as 15 heirloom apple varietals.
