Freyja Vin

Freyja Vin Fruit Wine & Cider

Freyja Vin was founded in 2019 with the planting of  vineyard In Norway – and not in the south of the country, but at latitude 610 North.

Shortly afterwards, in 2020, a cherry farm nearby called the company because they were about to destroy a few tons of cherries which their distributor had refused on the grounds that they didn’t meet requirements – they were too big, too red and too sweet (perhaps just too beautiful to be believed).

Rather than waste such a stunning product, it was decided to take some of this fruit and make wine from the crushed juice with really promising results, especially after being fortified and the liquid aged in new oak. Long story short, it won a bronze medal in the prestigious International Wine & Spirit Competition.

So Freyja Vin became medal-winning fruit wine producers before grape wine producers.

The region where the company’s winery-cum-distillery is located also produces wonderful quality apples and pears. Using the company’s winemaking skills, and using only 100% freshly pressed fruit with no concentrates, unfiltered and made using the ‘traditional method’, just like champagne, with a secondary fermentation in the bottle to produce a gentle sparkle, these are ciders and perries to be savoured.
